Accepting Nominations for the 2018-19 Board of Directors & Other Corporate Positions

Elections are March 7, 2018 and we need nominees!

Dear AHA Members,

On behalf of the AHA Board of Directors, we hope that everyone has enjoyed the ongoing hockey season that will be coming to end in early March.

As the season winds down, we need to turn our attention to the governance of the association for the upcoming year.  I would like to thank all those individuals who have volunteered their time to promote hockey in Central Arkansas and provide a youth hockey program that aids in the development and enjoyment of hockey by our youth players.

With that said, we have our annual elections coming on March 7, so I am reaching out to our members to seek interest in getting involved with the governance of the association as a director, officer or other corporate position necessary to ensure the success of our association for the coming year.

In accordance with our bylaws (http://www.arhockey.com/page/show/3446964-bylaws-and-rules), the AHA’s Board of Directors shall consist of up to thirteen (13) Board members, with twelve (12) of the directors being electing by our voting members.  The director positions that need to be filled are as follows:

  • Two (2) positions representing our 8U (Mites and Mini-Mites) age group;
  • Two (2) positions representing our 10U (Squirts) age group;
  • Two (2) positions representing our 12U (Peewees) age group;
  • Two (2) positions representing our 14U (Bantams) age group;
  • Two (2) positions representing our 18U (Midgets) age group; and
  • Two (2) positions representing the Adult League

 

The thirteenth (13th) board position shall be non-voting and reserved for a designee of the home rink.

Beyond the director positions, the AHA needs officers and other corporate positions to be filled, including:

  • President;
  • Vice-President;
  • Secretary;
  • Treasurer;
  • Registrar;
  • Chief Fundraiser;
  • Marketing Director;
  • House League Director;
  • Travel Director; and
  • Various other corporate positions as required by the Board
  •  

All positions have a one (1) year term that runs May through April.

If you have interest in serving on the Board, or filling an officer or other corporate position, we encourage you to click on the following link (http://www.arhockey.com/page/show/3446964-bylaws-and-rules) to access the 2018-19 AHA Nominee Form.  Please fill out this form and submit it to the AHA Secretary, Dave Rudnick, at davidrudnick@hotmail.com.   This form should be completed and submitted to Dave no later than March 1, 2018.

The election will be held at our annual meeting to be held in conjunction with our end-of-the-season gathering at the Skatium on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.  Nominations for positions which are not contested shall be deemed elected without a formal vote.
